The essentials at a glance

Flea treatment targets the environment as much as the animal: 95 % of the population — eggs, larvae, pupae — lives in carpets, floorboards and textiles, not on the dog or cat. It combines treating the property with veterinary treatment of every animal in the household, without which the infestation starts up again. AntinuisiblePro treats homes, holiday lets and commercial premises across the Val-de-Marne.

How to recognise a flea infestation

  • Clustered bites on ankles and legs, often indoors
  • Fleas or black droppings ("flea dirt") in the pet's coat
  • Pets scratching, biting or losing fur
  • Visible larvae or fleas in bedding, baskets and carpets

Why treat a flea infestation quickly

A flea lays dozens of eggs per day, which fall into bedding, carpets and floor cracks. The larvae develop there before becoming adults: a single treatment is not enough. Fleas cause itching, allergies and can transmit worms to pets and, more rarely, diseases to humans.

The fleas (dogs and cats) we treat

  • The cat flea (Ctenocephalides felis): by far the most common, it infests dogs as readily as cats and bites humans.
  • The dog flea (Ctenocephalides canis), rarer but behaving identically.
  • The human flea (Pulex irritans), now rare in mainland France.
  • The larvae and pupae, hidden in carpet fibres, floorboard gaps and pet beds.

Understanding fleas (dogs and cats) better

The adult fleas visible on the animal account for only 5 % of the infestation: the rest — eggs, larvae, pupae — is in the property. A female lays around fifty eggs a day, which fall off the animal and spread wherever it goes. The pupa, inside its cocoon, resists insecticides and can wait for months in the floorboards; it hatches in response to vibrations, CO₂ and warmth. That explains a classic phenomenon: a property left empty over the holidays triggers a mass hatch when the occupants return. It's also why a second visit is needed, to intercept the fleas that hatch after the first.

Our method against fleas

  1. Diagnosis of infested areas: bedding, carpets, cracks, baskets
  2. Targeted treatment of the home with an approved, adapted insecticide
  3. Veterinary advice to treat the pet and its environment simultaneously
  4. Second visit to eliminate fleas hatched from eggs after the first treatment

When should you call a professional?

Treating the animal alone never resolves an established infestation: it gets reinfested from the textiles within the day. Call a professional when bites persist despite veterinary treatments, after an infestation that has reached carpets and floorboards, when moving into a property where an animal used to live, or for a holiday let or short-term rental. And always arrange for every animal in the household to be treated at the same time by your vet.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Treating the animal without treating the property: the remaining 95 % reinfests it the same day.
  • Vacuuming without disposing of the bag outside: the larvae survive and recolonise the property.
  • Using a dog parasite treatment on a cat: some compounds, such as permethrin, are lethal to cats.
  • Stopping after the first visit: the pupae protected inside their cocoons will hatch a few days later.

Preventing fleas from coming back

  • Treat pets regularly with a veterinary antiparasitic
  • Vacuum carpets, sofas and pet sleeping areas frequently
  • Wash bedding and baskets at 60 °C in case of infestation

Our results guarantee

A successful treatment isn't judged on the day itself but a few weeks later. That's why we schedule a follow-up inspection and come back at no cost if the pest reappears during the guarantee period.

How much does a Fleas cost?

The price always depends on the survey: type of pest, surface area, level of infestation, accessibility and the number of visits required. We publish indicative price ranges in full transparency, and every quote is free, itemised and with no obligation.

Frequently asked questions about Fleas

Why must the pet and the home be treated at the same time?

Fleas live on the pet but lay their eggs in the environment. Treating only the pet or only the home always leaves part of the cycle intact. Our intervention combines home treatment with veterinary advice for a lasting result.

Why do I have fleas when my pet is treated?

Because the reservoir is in the property, not on the animal. A parasite treatment kills the fleas that climb onto the dog or cat, but reaches neither the eggs, nor the larvae, nor the pupae hidden in the textiles — which keep on hatching. Without treating the environment, the cycle closes again indefinitely.

Can you have fleas without a pet?

Yes. The pupae survive for months in a cocoon and hatch in response to the vibrations and CO₂ of new occupants. It's a classic scenario when moving into a property where an animal used to live, or coming back from holiday to a property left empty.

How long does it take to get rid of fleas?

Two to three weeks, with a second visit. The first treatment eliminates the adults and larvae; the second intercepts the fleas from the pupae that have hatched in the meantime. In parallel, every animal in the household must be treated by the vet and the laundry washed at 60 °C.
